Chosen Song and Video Direction

For my video, I have decided to use the song "I Walk the Line" by Halsey.

I have chosen this song because it's very visual and so there are many different directions which the video could go. Upon listening to it, I immediately thought of multiple ideas for the music video which means that it's a flexible song.

As well as this, the song itself fits the indie pop genre I was aiming for, so it's likely to appeal my target audience and be successful. Then, upon asking my target audience which song they preferred, almost all of them said that this song  since it would work well with the genre since it's a mixture of indie and pop.

I decided against the other songs, partly because my target audience chose this one over the others and so it has a higher chance of success, but mainly because, as I said before, it's a very visual song. The video could go in so many different ways and not just in filming; after filming I could be able to experiment with the editing, e.g. have it in black and white, use slow motion etc. There's a lot of freedom with this song.

For the video, I have been inspired by the music video for Blank Space by Taylor Swift in the sense that Swift herself stars as the main character and lives in a fancy house with fancy clothes and has an attractive 'suitor'.

Like in Blank Space, we see the video from the artist's of view so that the audience sees what she feels in relation to the song. The song itself has lyrics which could be used to visualise a one sided relationship between the artist/main character and her interest, for example, "I find myself alone when each day is through,".

The video will follow the artist as she performs the song and interacts with/dreams of her love interest. There will be several locations, including a house and a swing in which the artist will sit on and sing the song.
