Artist - The Symbols

The Symbols
The new artist for my video idea is going to be a four piece indie band from Reading. They are an indie-rock band who are trying to be a voice for their generation of lost thoughts.

I have decided to create a band instead of a solo artist because it is more fitting to my chosen genre of music and so it is more conventional and is likely to appeal to a broader audience.

Throughout the duration of my artist profile creation, I asked my target audience what they thought of each element. Here are my results.

The Symbols
Four-piece indie rock band The Symbols consists of four talented members;

  • Jackson Price, lead singer, rhythm guitar
  • Lily James, lead guitar
  • Zane West, bass
  • Samuel Earl, drums.
The band originated from the garage of Price's house when him and best friend James were working on a cover of "Mr Brightside" when Jackson's two friends overhead and thus the band was formed.

Influenced by the likes of Circa Waves, Sundara Karma, Catfish and the Bottlemen and The 1975, the indie-rock genre came naturally to them as they quickly began to produce their own music and release it.

This song, "Ultraviolet" is the first official single from their debut album "Behind the Doors". The hype is through the roof for the release due to the mass following The Symbols seemed to have accumulated through their SoundCloud and YouTube days.

Typical video from The Symbols
Usually a video with performance elements from the band themselves. Something with a narrative for the audience to follow as they watch. There are always underlying tones of aspirational messages, e.g. the "Be yourself" theme in the Ultraviolet music video.
