Artist - Jules

I have decided that, because the song I've chosen is sung by a solo artist, my artist is also going to be solo artist. This makes it easier for my target audience to identify with the singer and therefore makes it more appealing.

In the making of my artist, I asked my target audience what they thought of each element and made them choose the artist. This is the end result.

Jules

My solo artist is going to be an English 20-something female who found fame on YouTube and Sound Cloud when she posted covers and original material onto both accounts. Then, she was founded and quickly signed to Capitol Records where she is to complete an album, 5 singles and a tour.

My artist's name is Alice Green but is known by her stage name, Jules. The name was chosen when she originally posted her songs onto YouTube in an attempt to hide her identity from her peers but when she was picked up by Capitol Records, the name stuck.

Motives:
Inspired by the lack of female artists in the indie genre, Jules decided to create indie pop music which people can enjoy as much as they would if she were a male. As well as this, music has always been such a huge part of her life since it's helped her to cope with situations, such as her parent's split. She wants to be able to create music for someone's escapism which helps them through tough times in their lives.

Comparable artists:

After doing some research, I've concluded that the following artists are comparable to mine
  • The 1975
  • Verite
  • Twentyone Pilots
  • Banks
  • Melanie Martinez
Magazine's you'd find Jules in:
Q, Elle, Local Wolves, NME; a mixture of fashion and music.

Typical video from Jules:
Jules is likely to create a performance video with a mixture of narrative and concept elements due to her creativity. Music is her outlet and so the video is a platform in which she's able to portray her lyrics and music visually, and so it's likely to be be a bit of everything.

Artist fashion/style:
Dark lipstick, ripped clothing, black or other dark dresses, trousers/jeans, simple t-shirts. Unlikely to wear branded clothing/accessories for no other reason then tainting her brand image of basic clothing and fashion style.
