Different Types of Music Videos

performance based: specialise in featuring the artist performing the song live throughout most, if not all of the video, e.g. Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk". It usually involved more intimate camerawork with the artist.

narrative based: a music video that uses actors or artists to tell a story that can be linked to the lyrics, but not always is, and often contains performance elements, e.g. "Addicted To You" by Avicii
concept based: a creative video based around a certain idea or concept that don't always feature the artist, e.g. Foster the People's "Best Friend".
